Enjoy Pomona’s During Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week

Now that the mass of seasonal visitors has departed our sunny shores for homes in cooler climates, it’s time to reward ourselves. How about a nice meal?

The irony is, Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week (June 1-14) – now in its sixth year – is designed to bring visitors back to the area and provide a little off-season boost before the slow summer months set in for local restaurants. But from the very beginning, it has been a boon for local food fans who want to sample cuisine that their budgets might not normally allow.

It’s a simple formula: the restaurants that sign up for Savor provide special three-course menus for just $15 at lunch and $29 at dinner. No tickets are necessary, diners just show up and take advantage of the deal at the more than 40 participating spots (although you might want to make some reservations, just to be sure). Let’s do the math. Savor Sarasota’s “week” is actually 14 days long, so if you eat out for lunch and dinner every day you’ll spend approximately $600, not including tax, gratuity, drinks and other sundry expenses. It sounds like a lot, but considering the quality of the restaurants and the menus they have on offer, it’s the dining deal of the year.
